Returning to Legion

Hello all, its been a while! Almost a year and a half since the last post on my previous blog which is a little embarassing... Still I've finally got some time back to be able to get back to this project, and there is a lot to talk about. This post is something of a reintroduction and setting out the aims of the new and improved How To Train Your Dragonspawn along with what you can expect to turn up on this site.

Firstly, I must confess I've been out of the hobby more or less since I stopped blogging. It's been a busy period for me with starting a new career which has taken up a lot of time and disconnected me from wargaming. This wasn't by choice, but also wasn't a bad thing as I can now return to the game with a fresh perspective on both Legion and the wider state of the game. I have been playing infrequently for the last few months but I didn't want to blog about it as so much has changed since I was last online that I was still catching up with the changes. To put it in perspective the last time I played was before theme lists in Mk3 which goes to show just how much time has passed!

It has been a very eventful year for Legion and for Warmachine and Hordes in general. The release of theme forces has firmly driven the game towards their use and the CID is seeing a greater level of community involvement than we've ever had! Scenarios have been significantly changed to reward good list balance whilst the release of new factions like Grymkin have put a new spin on how Warmachine is played. Locally we have seen a resurgence of players coming back to the game, and the exciting new UK and Ireland Super Series is generating a lot of excitement across the UK. There have been some downsides however such as the loss of the Press Ganger scheme, the removal of the forums and the rising price of models. Nonetheless the game is at the best it has ever been and the community is buzzing with activity.

This is a great environment to return to, or enter if you are new to the game, because anything goes! Players are continually developing crazy and interesting lists, as well as trying tactics and combinations that were not previously seen before. If there was ever a time to make your mark in the Warmachine world, this is it.

I want YOU in my Blighted Army!

How To Train Your Dragonspawn was set out to be a place to share experiences and inspire creativity both in list creation and gameplay to enhance our experience with playing Legion of Everblight. I was taken aback by the positive response from you all and the support for the last site, so it only seems fitting that we get the ball rolling again. As such here are my three aims for the blog:

1. To provide interesting ideas and inspiration for improving your own play experience with Legion
2. To test ideas and provide evidence of their effectiveness (or lack of) on the tabletop
3. To create a space for the Legion community to share their gaming experiences with each other

A lot of this blog will be similar to its previous incarnation as well as other faction blogs, including battle reports, list builds and unit reviews (maybe even some hobby pieces too). However I would like to open this up to the community as a whole to share these ideas too, so if you would like to get involved just drop me a message via facebook, twitter or email about what content you would like to contribute.

All in all it is good to be back in the game again and I look forward to what the future holds for us all!

Jamie
