UK Games Expo 2023

Hey everyone, after an excellent weekend at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham, UK I thought I'd share my experiences at my first ever Conquest event. I'd strongly recommend trying out war gaming events, tournaments and the like even if you're not a competitive player. You get to meet some really cool people and have fun playing games, if you win anything then so much the better! Anyway, the event was ran by community hero Dave who organised both the three round main event and a free for all the following day. Para Bellum's team came across to meet us and chat too including their Community Manager Giannis , all of which were fantastic to get to know. As there are three games to get through I won't go round by round, but try and capture the key aspects in the early, mid and late games. The list I brought can be found below. The W'adrhÅn == Warlord Scion of Conquest [170]: Death, Death\'s Gaze, One Voice, Conquest 1 * Braves 6 [235]: Standard Bearer == Matriarch ...

Caster Archetypes

Hello all, so I've not been able to get a game in this week so I'm afraid it's time for some generalised rambling. Recently I've taken a step back from list creation and more at understanding casters and options. In other words, I'm zooming out to look at the faction as a whole. One of the beauties of Warmachine is that you can play almost any type of army in any faction, rather than being typeset to certain builds. If you want to crash into people with heavy beasts Absylonia2 is fantastic. Kallus1 is a top infantry caster and Lylyth2 is still a phenomenal ranged caster. If you are looking for feedback on a list, it's always worth indicating what you want it to do, what you intend to play it into and usually in a competitive setting what it would make with. Two powerful lists as a pairing are fine, but if they achieve the same aim you are losing out on flexibility. Warlocks and warcasters are defining models and it's worth considering the playstyle of ...

Wargames Workshop January Steamroller - Part 2

Hello all, this is the second half of the Wargames Workshop Steamroller I attended in January. After the first two games we broke for lunch and I got to catch up with some old friends in the break period before setting straight back into the games. I apologise now as I was not as diligent in taking photos for these second two games so I hope this still makes sense from the reader's perspective!

Wargames Workshop January Steamroller - Part 1

Hello all, following on from my previous post about my Thagrosh1/Fyanna2 pairing I got to take it out for a spin at a four round event. Apart from a slight issue with my second throne I bought that week (missing its lower section of the tower where everything connects into) I had to do a little improvising to make it playable. My lists were unchanged but for completeness they were as follows: Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight (Oracles of Annihilation) - Typhon - Carnivean - Naga Nightlurker - Nehilim Bloodseer Throne of Everblight Throne of Everblight Hex Hunters (min) - Bayal Sorceress on Helion Sorceress on Helion Shepherd Shepherd Spell Martyr Fyanna, Torment of Everblight (Ravens of War) - Neraph - Neraph - Raek - Raek Raptors Raptors Grotesque Raiders Hellmouth Hellmouth Grotesque Assassin Grotesque Assassin Forsaken Spell Martyr Spell Martyr Spell Martyr Game 1 - Thagrosh1 vs Elara2 My first game of the d...
